But of late things have really improved and now the site is easy to operate. As you open a facebook, twitter and Google Plus account, you also need to have a LinkedIn account.
Especially, if you discover that your target audiences are on LinkedIn you need to open an account their right away.

The best place to achieve this is in your profile heading and summary. Here you should be brief and to the point and tell people what you do. As you describe what you have to offer carefully include your target keywords.
*Allow people to view your profile: Social sites offer fertile grounds for you to build your online presence therefore it would beat the purpose if you make your LinkedIn account private.
Hence, in your privacy setting ensure you have made your profile to be public.
*Add education and experience details: Giving a detail account of your educational background and job or business experience is very important. Even if your current career or business is not related to what you studied in school, you will gain some leverage telling people what you have done.
When you are talking about your experiences, you can inform people what you have done in the past and what you are doing currently.
It is like showing people the journey you took to get to where you are today. In this section, you also get the opportunity to once again mention your keyword phrases.

*Link other social site like twitter to your LinkedIn account: LinkedIn gives you the option to connect with your followers on twitter and you should take advantage if you have a twitter account.
*How to list your websites: In your LinkedIn profile it is imperative to add you websites. When you are listing your websites rather than choosing the option Company website or Blog choose Other.
Choosing Other is yet another opportunity to optimize your LinkedIn account details. Here enter keyword phrases related to your website.
*Summary has to be captivating: The first rule of generating content on your summary section is writing in the first person. Rather than saying “I” it would be advisable to say “You”.
The summary section is where you get to communicate with your audience. Show the people that you are targeting what you have to offer and how they can benefit from you.
Make your summary unique by telling your prospects the things that make you different from others. A call to action can go a long way in making sure you also direct traffic to your site through your LinkedIn profile. Hence tell people what you want them to do.
For example, you can add a tagline at the end of your summary like “To increase traffic to your site by 30% in 30 days, visit this website: https://www.workonlinelegit.com/”
*Add specialties: Within your summary you also need to add your expertise. This is a list of skills that you hold.
*Edit LinkedIn account URL: When you open a LinkedIn account you are usually given a default profile URL. It looks something like this “http://ph.linkedin.com/pub/stephen-k-mwas/47/795/37”
This link is difficult to remember for most people and it also doesn’t look appealing. You can edit this link by going to your profile and click edit profile. Then go to where your default URL is and click on edit. On the right sidebar, click on customize your public profile URL. It is advisable you enter your username.

*Connect with people in your niche: Once you have everything in place and your account is fully optimized you can start linking with other people. Begin by adding the contacts you have in your email accounts.
*Spy on other people’s profile: It is also advisable to see how your competitors have customized their LinkedIn user profile. You might just pick a hint or two on how to better optimize your account at LinkedIn.
*Edit mistakes: There is nothing that makes you unprofessional like having spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in your profile details.
Besides, how do you expect people to take you seriously if you are not careful to spell your name correctly? Therefore, go over your profile and correct any mistakes you come across.
